Magnitude 7.1 quake strikes southeast of New Caledonia

An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 has struck southeast of the Loyalty Islands close to New Caledonia.
The USA Geological Survey (USGS) mentioned Saturday’s quake hit at a depth of about 36km.
The Bureau of Meteorology mentioned there was no tsunami menace to Australia following the quake.
Saturday’s quake comes after a magnitude 7.7 tremor hit the Loyalty Islands on Friday.
Geoscience Australia mentioned that quake struck at a depth of 31km.
